HLTAAP001Recognise Healthy Body Systems

This course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required by an individual to work with basic information about the human body and to recognise and promote ways to maintain healthy functioning of the body.  It is usually delivered alongside HLTHPS006 Assist Clients with Medication as CHCSS00070 - Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set in jurisdictions or for NDIS providers where nationally recognised qualifications are required to assist clients with medication.

Course duration: Approximately 7 hours of face to face training.

Topics covered include:
  • A basic understanding of the fundamental principles of maintaining a healthy human body
  • Accepted health terminology to describe the normal structure, function and location of the major body systems
  • Knowledge of the major components of each body system and their location in relation to other structures
  • Basic understanding of how to maintain the whole body in an overall state of health
  • Basic structure and functions of the body systems and associated components
    • Cells, tissues and organs
    • Cardiovascular system
    • Respiratory system
    • Musculo-skeletal system
    • Endocrine system
    • Digestive system
    • Urinary system
    • Integumentary system
    • Lymphatic system
    • Nervous system, including sensory systems - eyes and ears
    • The special senses - smell, taste, vision, equilibrium and hearing
    • Immune system
  • Processes, conditions and resources required by the body to support healthy functioning
    • Body regulation including:
      • Maintenance of body temperature
      • Fluid and electrolyte (including pH) balance
      • Elimination of waste from the body
      • Maintenance of blood pressure
      • Protection from infection
      • Physical activity - active and passive
    On successful completion of HLTAAP001 Recognise Healthy Body Systems, students will receive an emailed soft copy certificate that is valid from the course completion date.

    This course is only available for group bookings and can be held at your workplace, regardless of location within Australia (travel costs may apply) or our training facilities in Auchenflower, Queensland.
