Altitude First Aid also delivers a range of training courses to help NDIS providers and their staff to develop and retain the skills to delivering complex supports, safely, to NDIS participants and meet the requirements set out in the NDIS Practice Standards: skills descriptors.

HLTAAP001 Recognise Healthy Body Systems

This course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required by an individual to work with basic information about the human body and to recognise and promote ways to maintain healthy functioning of the body.
    • Course duration: Approximately 7 hours of face to face training.
    • Delivered alongside HLTHPS006 Assist Clients with Medication as CHCSS00070 - Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set in jurisdictions or for providers where nationally recognised qualifications are required to assist clients with medication.
     

    HLTHPS006 Assist Clients With Medication

    This course is for individuals working in various care and support roles in the community and health services who wish to develop the skills in supporting people to self-administer medication and complete medication documentation according to the authority in their state or territory.
      • Course duration: Approximately 14 hours of face to face training.
      • Delivered alongside HLTAAP001 Recognise Healthy Body Systems as CHCSS00070 - Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set in jurisdictions or for providers where nationally recognised qualifications are required to assist clients with medication.
      • Qualification remains current for three years.
       

      Assist Clients with Medications (Non-accredited)

      This short non-accredited course is for individuals working in various care and support roles in the community and health services who wish to develop the skills in supporting people to self-administer medication and complete medication documentation where nationally recognised qualifications are non-mandatory.
      • Course Duration: Approximately 3 hours of face to face training
      • Suited to jurisdictions or for providers where nationally recognised qualifications are not required to assist clients with medication.
      • Refresher training is recommended every three years and would generally consist of a shorter course covering recent changes in medication policy, procedures and best practice and may include a review of competency.

      HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Tasks Safely

      This course is designed to train participants in how to carry out their work safely to remove the risk of injuries. The course teaches participants how to lift and move materials manually and/or use basic manual handling equipment in a safe manner.
      • Course Duration: Approximately 4 hours of face to face training for students who are new to manual handling training or 2 hours for students with similar previous training and/or experience
      • Refresher training is recommended every two years.

      Enteral Feeding and Management (PEG Feeding) (Non-accredited)

      This course is designed for individuals working in various care and support roles in the community and health services who are caring for a person who is reliant on Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) feeding. A person reliant on NG feeding typically has more complex health issues requiring high intensity support.
      • Course Duration: Approximately 2 hours of face to face training 
      • Refresher training is recommended every three years.

      Midazolam Administration for the Treatment of Seizures (Non-accredited)

      This course is designed for individuals working in various care and support roles in the community and health services who are caring for a person who is at high risk of seizures and includes the development of skills to administer epilepsy medication such as Midazolam. Correct administration of this medication is critical and is considered a high intensity support.
      • Course Duration: Approximately 2 hours of face to face training 
      • Refresher training is recommended every three years.
       

      Stoma Care (Non-accredited)

      This course is designed for individuals working in various care and support roles in the community and health services who are caring for a person who may have different types of stomas such as colostomy and ileostomy care or tracheostomy care (where no other requirements apply relating to ventilation).
      • Course Duration: Approximately 2 hours of face to face training 
      • Refresher training is recommended every three years.
